For some people, there is something romantic, even magical, about being surrounded by decorations, furniture, and fixtures that come, or at least resemble those that come, from a bygone era. This antique ivory vanity is a combination of stone, brass hardware, and wood with intricate designs that could easily be thought as coming from a time when kings and queens ruled Europe.
For the countertop, you have a choice of travertine or Baltic brown granite with a French edge softening its corners. The counter is coated with a special sealant preventing water stains and marks. Two large openings on either side of the slab reveal ceramic sinks with a brass pop-up drain plug. Behind each sink are three pre-drilled holes for the faucet and its valves for hot and cold water.
Underneath the stone countertop is a cabinet made out of birch wood finished in antique ivory. This finish is sealed to prevent peeling and cracking. It has a framed construction to enable it to provide support and stability to the countertop. All wood components are properly kiln-dried to keep them from warping or cracking.
Immediately below the counter are two spaced moldings that run through both sides and the front of the cabinet. In between these are raised elaborate leaf designs. In the center of the vanity is a stack of three drawers, each having its own raised molding and a brass knob for opening.
On either side of this set of drawers are two large cabinets. These are accessed via double doors that are fitted with intricately designed door handles that are appropriate for the vanity’s motif. Needless to say, the doors are paneled with antique design. Even the side panels are decorated with moldings, while sculptured feet raise the vanity from the bathroom floor, thus protecting items stored in the drawers and cabinets from damp floors.
