Install Mosaic Tiles on your Bathroom Vanity
Ceramic top vanities are very popular among homeowners because it is beautiful and easy to maintain. If you already have an existing vanity but want to change the surface into a ceramic top, you can easily do this yourself. You can even use a 1” ceramic mosaic tiles and V-cap edge tiles to make the project even easier.
Take one of the cap tiles against the all the edges of the vanity countertop and mark the locations of the back joints with a pencil. Once done, layout the mesh back sheets of the mosaic tiles on the countertop. The front rows of tiles should always be aligned to the lines that you’ve made to accommodate the V-cap edge tiles. Draw reference lines on the tiles you need to cut and trim. Once you are confident with your tile position, it is time to apply the mortar or thinset.
Spread the thinset with a square notch trowel evenly all over the layout and begin setting the tiles. Don’t forget to set all your full sheets of tiles first and the trimmed pieces last. Make sure all mosaic tiles are embedded properly on the thinset. When the mosaic tiles for the vanity backsplash is set, position the bull nose tile on top to finish the whole look. This is also a good time to set the V-cap edge tiles.
Once all the tiles are in place and the thinset is dry, apply the grout using a margin trowel. Skim the excess grout off with a float or sponge. Once the grout is dry, clean the grout haze with a damp sponge.
