Oceanside Bath Vanity
The clean, almost austere design of the Oceanside Bath Vanity makes it suitable for most modern bathrooms. It is a classic expression of the concept that form follows function.
The vanity top is a polished black granite that is two centimeters thick making it truly sturdy and giving it an extravagant look. An oval hole measuring 15″ x 12″ is cut in the middle of the granite where either a white or parchment porcelain sink is mounted under the top. A 2-cm thick backsplash, also of black granite, stands four inches high behind the faucet.
The top is propped up by four straight and solid legs that are constructed from hard woods kiln dried in small batches to assure proper drying. This prevents eventual cracking and warping. The four legs also act as the frame for the side and back boards, as well as the drawers and shelf at the front.
The two full-width drawers are set right beneath the granite top, one above the other. They have raised but plain moldings around their edges and are each fitted with two shiny square drawer pullers. The drawers are built around the sink and plumbing as these get in the way. Thus, in the upper drawer there are storage spaces on both sides of the sink, while in the lower, the storage areas are found on both sides of the sink’s drain pipe. These have ball bearing slides to keep them easy to open even under load.
Below these drawers is an open shelf that is intended for your towels, robes, or other bathroom linen.
All wood components are painted a glossy black matching the black granite top. This paint is coated with as many as 15 layers of a protective seal keeping fading, peeling, and cracking at bay.
