Painting a Bathroom Vanity
Do you love your bathroom vanity but often wish that it has another finish or paint color?
You don’t have to give up your bathroom vanity since you can easily give it a facelift. All you need to do is paint the vanity’s exterior to whatever color you prefer. And while at it, you can even replace the hardware as well.
Start your DIY project by prepping the bathroom vanity. You’ll need to clean the entire surface and remove all the attached hardware. After which, you should sand and prime the exterior. The aim for this bathroom vanity is to give it a distressed finish so choose your base coat and accent colors really well like blue and silver.
Your base paint color will be the blue. Don’t forget to choose a high quality latex satin paint and apply two coats of it evenly on your bathroom vanity. Once dry, you can then apply the accent paint. In order to achieve the same silver shade as those of your silver hardware, you can mix two colors of paint such as pearl and antique silver.
Brush on the silver coat unto the bathroom vanity in sort of haphazardly manner. Next, you need to take a sponge and just dab it into your just painted coat. This is done to remove the obvious brush marks on the silver paint. Next, take a rubbing alcohol and put in a few drops of it on the sponge.
Dab the alcohol-soaked sponge unto the cabinet’s surface to create a randomly beautiful distressed pattern. With this technique, you’ll never know what the final outcome will be. But you can be sure that it will come out great.
After the paint is dry, attach your new hardware and you’re all set.
